‘Schamune’ is a good example of the 29 bilge keeler - actively sailed and improved over the years. More information and photos here.
She is in good condition overall, commensurate with age. Major plus points are: re-engined in 2015 with BUKH DV24ME and Bruntons autoprop. Lofrans Dorado electric anchor windlass; Pressurised hot and cold water system; Proper shower in heads with sump pump - and cockpit shower. Raymarine Evolution Tiller pilot (including EV-1 compass, ACU-100 processor, P70 head, tiller ram AND custom-built rudder position sensor) connected via NMEA to NASA clipper wind system; Sterling 1600w inverter, galvanic isolater and ProSplit battery charging management; Waeco larder fridge with 12 & 240v power; Standard Horizon Chart Plotter and VHF, NASA duo log and depth plus AIS receiver; 2 sets of sails - all in good order. Windows rebuilt with new acrylic. I could go on!
I am looking for £16,500 for Schamune. She has been set up to be comfortable to live on and to sail - including singlehanded, where the sophisticated autopilot set-up really comes into its own. I am only thinking of selling because I’m planning to buy a bigger boat and sail across livelier seas, now that I’m retired.
She is now out of the water at Lower Halstow Yacht Club on the Medway. As finding the right new owner often takes time, I'm going to get on with my usual maintenance and upgrade plans this winter and see what happens. I'm currently preparing the hull for antifouling and the spray hood has come off for re-stitching and new windows.
