Sadly the time has come to sell Calypso - we intended to sail to Gibraltar and Morocco and back to Galicia but the orcas have kept us initially in Galicia and now Lisbon, sailing inside the Tagus and taking the shallow water line to Cascais now and again. We are heading towards the date when Father Time would have forced us to sell anyway - one of us gets reduced entry to museums and the other is not far behind !
The Lisbon berth can be taken by the new owner. We have enjoyed the last couple of winters on our floating Lisbon apartment where the weather has been springlike in December and January.
Had we wanted to sail to the Mediterranean we would have done so - timing our passage using the CA monthly orca location activity spreadsheet derived from the GTOA monthly interaction maps ( https://www.theca.org.uk/sites/all/misc/orcas/Orca-historical-interaction-location-data.pdf ) and passing them in late May using the shallow water route through the Strait of Gibraltar - but we no longer fancy the idea of Greece and Turkey having been spoiled by the delights of Atlantic France, Spain and Portugal. You can see our journey at calypsocapers.co.uk (I must find time to update the last couple of years!)
We had a great time traveling south very slowly and enjoying seeing interesting places and meeting interesting people along the way. I felt like a massive traitor when attaching the sale sign as Calypso has been every thing we had hoped for and much more.
She has been fitted out for liveaboard use and rigging and saildrive seals were replaced this year under planned maintenance.
