For Sale NEW Moody 42 CC Sprayhood

Hi.
A long story I will do my best to shorten. I had a new Bimini for our 42, made from the old pattern. Returned it to the boat fitted a treat. Returned home next trip with spray hood to have one made to match. Returned to boat last week. It’s the wrong colour. It fits a treat but doesn’t match. The firm who made an excellent job agreed it was their problem for mixing up the materials. So I’ve brought it home from France to return to them. I thought I’d try to ease their pain by offering it on the forum. Photos attached. No poppers or lift the dots have been fitted allowing for individual fitting. Made with full zipping centre screen and velcros etc. New bolt rope. I’ve tried to show the type of frame set up we have. I know the 42 CC vary quite a lot so it might not be practical to swap to another boat without adjustment.

If it is of any interest let me know and I’ll ask them how much they want for it.

Let me know I’ll ask.
It is now back in UK.
It was fitted for 3 days. ☹️

Simon.

Hi, I could be interested, but I am not sure how I would know if it fitted! Our sprayhood looks as if it was replaced at some point and possibly the aft legs repositioned (but they could go back). The bolt rope now ends at the aft leg. But it looks as if the original sprayhood arrangement of the 40 is identical to the 42? Our boat is in Kerrera and it is a 3 day minimum round trip - I've just been up - so I am not planning to go up again till launch time. I.be interested in trying it on approval, or a high risk offer!

Hi Tim. I’ll dig out some more photos see if that helps. I’ll ask them how much they are looking for. I’ll get some more info. Where are you based?

Hi, It looks very similar -definately interested. If they want to sell it I am interested in having a Marlec Spectra zipper semi flexible Solar Panel fitted to it - that just requires two zips sewn across the top and possibly a hole for the cable? - It looks as if it should fit - its 1090 x 577 including zips - I did measure ours and it should have plenty of room. Of course I'd pay for them to do that.
I'm currently in Newmarket - 07768757056.

Did you manage to get a price from the makers? Was the colour as per the photo, give or take the usual rendering issues?
Tim

Hi Tim, I’ve dropped them a message, I suspect there may be an issue for them to commit given the time frame, if you won’t be able to commit (understandably) until next spring they might not want to take it off sale for that length of time. They had said they might get an opportunity to remodel it as apparently that’s what they do if things don’t work out. I can see their point but also yours you don’t want to shell out for it and it not fit. The compromise might be that if the price is agreeable if they still have it when you are due to go back up north you can pick it up en route and give it a try on appro. See what they come back with. I’ll keep you posted.

I'm happy to commit now if the price is reasonable! I don't know what the sensible price is - Ive seen quotes from £500 to over £1600 for replacement covers.
I'm fairly confident it can be made to fit even if I have to reposition the frame anchors.
If its easier for you, I'll happily deal direct with the company who made it.

Would it make sense for us to contact the maker directly - anyway we might get them to make us another one as they have the pattern

Hi Tim. Sorry I don’t seem to get alerts or emails on the threads. It’s happened before I get 1 or 2 then nothing so unless I log in to the forum I don’t see them. I’m not ignoring you. I was mindful the guy who owns the company hasn’t got back to me/us. If you let me have your email and phone number I’ll send it in with an intro so he can talk to you direct. I paid £1150 for it which was less than half what Tecsew quoted me so I think they are good value and they make a nice job I’m very happy with my Bimini and if they had got the colour right we wouldn’t be talking. They put me Velcro tapes on my Bimini for the solar panel which works well although I’m sure they would do zips for you. Let me know. Sorry about the delay. Simon.

Hi Simon,
Thanks. We had Teksew fix our Bimini, which was also expensive, although the guys were pretty efficient.

All sorted with Marine and Industrial Covers. They are going to fit a zippered solar panel to it.
