I've decided to sell Sugarwing https://www.marinetraffic.com/en/ai...:183299/mmsi:232004636/imo:0/vessel:SUGARWING
After years of chartering all sorts of compromises all over the place, I bought the M42 because of its centre cockpit (comfortable at sea, protected, large stern cabin), it's a Moody (not a bean can and has equipment appropriate to its size unlike many others), it has grown up sailing gear (no in mast furling nightmare or sterndrive) and it sails like an adult.
Currently overwintering in Ceuta (following a short trip to Morocco to reset the VAT status in September), I intend to move her to "Real Club Náutico de La Línea de la Concepción" which is walking distance to Gibraltar airport in late January / early February.
UK VAT Paid Year 2000 Moody 42 that has been exceptionally maintained and equipped, some highlights:
+ Teak decks
+ Duogen water / wind generator (2022 - cost £6500)
+ Electric outboard and AGM battery to suit included Avon dinghy
+ Spinnaker (light use)
+ EPIRB, hand bearing compass, Navtex (new aerial and controler 2020)
+ Includes VHF with cockpit remote & DSC, new aerial and mast cable 2020
+ AIS Transceiver (hence track on Marinetraffic)
+ House and start batteries all recently replaced (house capacity = 460Ah)
+ New alternator and stop solenoid 2023
+ Stern gland repacked 2022
+ New fridge compressor system 2020
+ New Raymarine E92, course plotter, autopilot and digital Radar
+ New Raymarine autopilot (electric quadrant ram) and controller upgraded to correct spec.
+ Raymarine barometer attachment
+ Navionics Europe (EU646L) charts pack for Raymarine included
+ Standing Rigging replaced 2015 (Jerry the rigger in Portsmouth) with additional "Slutter" removable forestay.
+ Has holding tank, deck / at sea pump out system
+ Shaft drive Yanmar 4JH3E (so no sterndrive leaks!)
+ Maxprop 3 blade folding prop (serviced)
+ Erberspatcher cabin heater
+ Cockpit cover / tent supplied by Tecsew (who can replace items as needed)
+ Cockpit teak sole replaced (original was veneer on ply, new one is solid teak)
+ Electric primary windlass port side
+ New intelligent mains charger (Kisae Abso 12V 40Amp Battery Charger)
+ Anchor windlass replaced 2018
+ Galvanic isolator
+ Slab reef main (no nasty in-mast jamfest nonsense)
+ Genoa UV strip replaced 2024
+ Keel off and re-bonded with new bolts 2020
+TV + DVD player with Amazon firestick!
+ Has 2 x fixed solar panels with controller
+ Will include jackstays and 6 x lifelines, 6 x lifejackets (Kru), lots of maintenance spares.
+ Every year overwintered with a full diesel tank, every refill with a diesel bug killer so no black sludge in the system (it's full now = 274 liters).
+ 2 person kayak, paddles and buoyancy aids
+ Bedding, crockery, cutlery, mugs, pans and everything you need to step aboard and sail away will be included.
YM article https://www.yachtingmonthly.com/cruising-life/boat-moody-42-29228 is mostly accurate with a couple of exceptions: I never "thrash around cans" (only race I ever participated in was the Round the Island, once), and the "exceptional headroom under the boom is because the topping lift was on (doh), though it's ok, lower than pictured when sailing.
I sailed Sugarwing from UK in 2022, through Biscay and Spain / Portugal in 2023 / 2024, on my own. She's adequately equipped to sail entirely single handed and there's no need to leave the cockpit (all lines and controls are here). Everything works perfectly, she's in mint condition, has been antifouled, serviced and maintained every year since I bought her in 2010 and is really, good to go!
If you're interested give me a call on +44 7884 464030.
