Hi everyone,

I'm looking at buying a Moody 37 or 376 and am wondering what the headroom is on these boats. I read somewhere it's less than 180cm in the galley area?

Also, I'm wondering about the berths and the cockpit seat lengths. I'm 183cm tall.

Thanks so much,
Iljya

I’m 5 10. Ive never had any head room issues in the main salon area. Moving aft from the chart table to the aft cabin I have to kinda duck around the underside of the cockpit seats. All doors are head bump opportunities as well.

Cock pit is plenty long comfortable seating for 4 in front of pedestal and two behind. Getting around the wheel. Requires stepping up on the seats and then back down. Ie. No sliding around the wheel, I’ve thought about getting a smaller wheel, but hard to find them in the USA.... to try out before buying.

I’ve slept in the v berth a couple times with no problem. Love the aft cabin, but mines Been modified from the original.

Hi Marc! Thanks for getting back to me. Interesting about the helm. I guess I can live with that. Say, do you have another 2 inches clearance in the galley and berth? :) I am 6 feet.

I'm intrigued what modifications you've made to the aft cabin, and do you have a 37 or 376?

I'm 5'10" and find headroom ok in most places (except doors), I think there is probably 2 inches spare above my head in the galley. The aft cabin berth I find just about an inch too short. If I stretch out, my feet touch one end and my head the other.

Honestly have not noticed an heady room issue in the galley. It does make sense that you’d lose some headroom as the overhead starts to crown. But Ive also never really found my self standing straight upright. I'm usually digging stuff out of the ice box, washing dishes, cooking etc. so generally bent over a little bit.

I have the 376, which I believe the only difference is the sugar scoop transom. In my aft cabin I have the sleeping area situated port/starboard rather than fore aft. this allowed me to get almost two twin sized mattresses in. well one twin and then 3/4 of the second since I had to trim it around the transom curvature the foam mattresses are 39x75

you will find the headroom in the aft cabin lacking. I solved that problem somewhat by removing all the plywood backed vinyl headliner.

the Previous owners had made some of the modifications to get a Full sized coil spring mattress in the aft cabin. but my wife and I are not skinny people and had not shared a full sized mattress since we were skinny in college...

Marc, that's a really substantial and detailed response. Thank you so much for taking the time. This is an important factor for me that I'll weigh heavily in my search (I'm based in Switzerland so it's not easy to just go an see a boat).

Thanks also, Ashley, that's disappointing, but very helpful.

Does anyone know if the Moody 37 has the same proportions in the aft cabin?
